Merel van Mansom is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology and Methodology (SOMET) in the department of Sociology and Political Sciences at the University of Milan (Italy), part of the Network for the Advancement of Social and Political Sciences (NASP). She holds a Master degree in Sociology from the University of Amsterdam, with a specialisation in Gender, Sexuality and Society. Her fields of interest are: sexuality, sexual commodification, sexual consumption, the intersections between race-gender-sexuality, sex work, sex workers rights movements, contemporary feminism and (fem)pornography. Her previous research on female clients of male sex workers in the Netherlands, her extensive knowledge on the field, established relationships with (former) sex workers all enable her to carry out this crucial research.
